Lincolnshire’s Rose Croix Inspector General Adrian Joyce has presented a 50-year Rose Croix certificate to John Alec de Silva Holmes, a 32nd degree member at the Stukeley Rose Croix Chapter in Spalding.
John was initiated into the Hundred of Elloe Craft Lodge in November 1962, and Perfected into the Stukeley Rose Croix Chapter in September 1975.
On the same evening in his role as Provincial Scribe E, Adrian Joyce, representing the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, presented a 60-year Royal Arch Certificate to George Roy Fieldsend, who is also a 32nd degree member of Stukeley Rose Croix Chapter.
George was initiated into the Hundred of Elloe Lodge in March 1963, four months after his best friend John, and Exalted into the Welland Chapter in November 1965. He was Provincial Senior Grand Warden in 1996, and holds the Rank of Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah which he received 1999.
Adrian said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be able to present the Certificates to George, who is 96 years old, and John who is 94 , both still mobile and as active as they can be. They are best friends, live next door to each other and have followed each other through Masonry for the past 63 years. They are a true inspiration to us all and a shining example of men who live by the values and lessons that we are all taught as Freemasons. “Making these presentations has been one of the most satisfying and memorable moments of my time in Freemasonry.”
On behalf of the Province in general, and Freemasonry in Spalding in particular, Adrian thanked George and John for their dedication and for everything they had given to Freemasonry,
