In February 1956 21-year-old Doug Sharp was initiated into Lombardian Lodge in the City of London, whose members dined at the exclusive Café Royal.
Aged just 39 Doug was installed as Worshipful Master, and was proficient in the ritual. In March 1969 he was Exalted into St Ambrose Chapter, which met in Freemasons’ Hall, and went through the three Principals’ chairs.
He moved to Lincolnshire in 2007 and joined Yarborough Lodge and All Saints Chapter in Gainsborough, where his musical talent was soon recognised, and he was appointed as Organist – a position he occupied until recently.
In recognition of his faithful service to Craft Masonry over 70 years he has been awarded a certificate from Lincolnshire’s PGM Dave Wheeler.
Said former APGM Peter Brooks, who presented the certificate: “Doug is a well loved and respected member of the lodge, and the presentation was greeted with much applause.”
