About 300 hundred Freemasons, family members, and their friends flocked to Robin and Ginny Barker’s Sandall Farm for the now-annual Crowle Lodges’ hog roast to raise charity funds.
Food was provided as usual by Snap, Crackle, and Pork, operated by Rich Turner of the Isle of Axholme Lodge with input from his dad Barrie, who’d flown in from Ireland for the event.
With ticket prices held at £15, and a raffle raising £1,500, the event has raised money to be shared amongst a number of yet-to-be decided charities.
On behalf of his fellow organisers, Matt Dunstan said: “Once again we’ve been blessed with excellent weather, and that’s been the perfect backdrop for members and friends to get together and enjoy each other’s company whilst raising money for good causes.”
Matt had lots of people to thank in the latest running of an event that’s been a fixture in the Crowle Masonic calendar for more than 30 years. He singled out John and Wenda Tasker, who’d provided strawberries for every dessert for at least 20 years; to Jill Braithwaite who collected ticket money, John Cram who’d worked hard on the setup, and Bob Achell who’d provided music.
But Andy Urry, pictured above with Jinny Barker, said: “The person Matt hasn’t thanked is himself. He has run himself ragged and put in such a lot of effort to make this event a success.”
