Mark Masons revved up at creation of new classic vehicle enthusiasts’ Lodge

Lincolnshire’s Mark Masons were all revved up for the creation of the Province’s first new Mark Lodge for 15 years.

It’s the Open Road Lodge number 2065, and will meet twice a year with a road run following the meeting.

The Consecrating Officer was Lincolnshire’s Mark PGM Steve Hallberg, who was assisted by Steve Roberts at Installing Officer and Phil Aitken, acting IPM.

Driving force (pun intended) behind the Lodge, with 30 founder members, has been its first Master. He’s Phil Spicksley from Barton, who has an elderly Wolseley and a Humber Sceptre (pictured below).

Phil said: “The Lodge is to be based at Louth, it is our intention to hold the Installation meeting there and drive somewhere else in the Province of Lincolnshire for the other meeting each year.

“The Lodge membership is open to all who have an interest in motors, from tractors to HGV’s and everything in between.

“We’ll meet on Saturday mornings, and it’s our intention to have a hearty breakfast, then the meeting before we hit the road on a road run to a suitable place for afternoon tea before heading home.”

He added: “Although we shall meet only twice a year it will be a friendly and social Lodge open to all. Members don’t have to own a classic or specialist vehicle; they just need to enjoy their Mark Masonry and meet other members with similar interests.”

The Open Road Lodge is the third to be consecrated in Lincolnshire in recent years, with the first two being Craft Lodges – but what they have in common is that they’re all special interest Lodges. First was the Free Wheelers, for motorcycle enthusiasts; then came the Armed Forces Lodge of Lincolnshire, for current and former members of the Forces.
