Hope Chapter’s Installation Ceremony was , you might say a Ceremony with a difference, writes Mike Lock.
Master elect Gordon Allison, a superb ritualist, had to withdraw due to a throat operation. First Principal Andy Fitches had no hesitation to offer to a continue for a second year, and because Joshua Elect Iain Wilson and Haggai Elect Mike Virgo had been through the respective Chairs all that was necessary to proclaim them, making it a very quick Ceremony .
With official visitor Terry Little accompanied by his DC Neil Hollingsworth in attendance it was decided to let the new Sojourner team deliver the three lectures.
Although this went very well in rehearsal, on the day the Principal Sojourner could not attend due to an urgent work matter, Then 15 minutes before the meeting started the Second Assistant Sojourner Mike Lowe phoned to say he was stuck at Sutton Bridge on his way from his home in Norwich. He was determined to join us, and just as the item was announced he arrived and delivered the Historical Lecture with clarity and enthusiasm especially, after such a harrowing Journey.
The First Assistant Sojourner, relatively recent exaltee Gresley Nicholson delivered a the Symbolical Lecture in a very interesting and highly competent manner . The presentation was completed by Ex Companion Roberts who delivered the Mystical Lecture . His delivery concluded a most enlightening and very well presentation and it is very clear he has a promising future in freemasonry ! The Chapter was also delighted to welcome fivve visitors including the Most Excellent First Principal Chris Williams of the Shire Chapter , our daughter Chapter. They enjoyed their evening with us and a reciprocal visit is being arranged.”
