Wayne steps in to lead Savage ritual demonstration at short notice

When Isle of Axholme Chapter’s current Z Adrian Grimshaw was indisposed through illness just two weeks before a presentation of the Savage Royal Arch Exaltation ritual Wayne Hodgkinson stepped in to take over – but the way he delivered the ceremony gave no clue that he hadn’t been practicing for months.

There had been great enthusiasm to demonstrate the ritual from the Crowle Chapter members, said DC Steve Spavin. “It was refreshing to see just how many of the members came forward to volunteer to take part, and those taking part performed exceptionally well. There enthusiasm promises a great future for the Chapter.”

Delivery of the Savage Ritual, a streamlined and ‘more efficient’ version of the more widely-known one allowed time to deliver the lectures as part of the meeting, packing more interest and enjoyment into the time available. Provincial comms Officer Start Pearcey took part in the ceremony, and said afterwards: “The enthusiasm and commitment of the members to demonstrating the Savage Ritual shone through, and it seemed to be enjoyed by all those who were able to be there to see it.”

The ceremony was followed by the traditional Crowle buffet, a table groaning with a huge variety of food from cold cuts, salads, hot sausages and bacon, and a chicken curry with rice – all followed by trifle and a cheeseboard.
