The first Grimsby Masonic Centre Summer Social, born from a chat at the centre’s open day, was a resounding success with about 80 people taking part.
Hosted by Pelham Pillar, the town’s oldest Lodge, the event began with Lodge meeting which was called off to allow members and guests to hear a talk about Ian Huggett’s career protecting members of the Royal family.
After that everyone settled down to an evening of chat and a barbecue.
Most of the Grimsby centre Lodges were represented and it is hoped that future iterations will have increased participation as this first event was conceived and played out within a short period.
In the picture of the officers are Liaison officer Charles Jackson, Centre Membership Officer Steve Dickson and supporting brethren from sister lodges Steve Ibbotson of Lord Heneage and Bro J Fletcher as organist, Thomas Maliyil as Tyler.
The charity chosen for the raffle was the Oliver Aisthorpe Charity to help provide prosthetics for young Oliver who lost all four limbs to sepsis.
