How you can meet the challenge of explaining the seven-year strategy

If challenged, could you list the five key points of the Pro Grand Master’s seven-year strategy for Freemasonry, 2022 and beyond? The words are simple enough in concept  – but it’s the actions that come from them that will reverse the inexorable decline in the number of Freemasons, which have been slipping away by about 2% a year for too long.

Remember what Pro Grand Master Jonathan Spence said when he introduced the strategy in a direct appeal to all of us? “The future of Freemasonry is in our hands.” Said PGM Dave Wheeler: “Lincolnshire has taken that message on board, but we all have a part to play, however small. If everyone makes a contribution, I am confident that by the end of the seven years of the strategy, our Province will have done its utmost to make that future bright. No-one will be able to say we didn’t try our very best!”

The five points of the strategy are:

1. The Craft and the Royal Arch; we are one organisation
2. Addressing the Membership Challenge
3. Willing to innovate, with a ‘yes if…’ attitude
4. Masonic rank is not a pre-requisite for involvement
5. Reinforce the sociability of Freemasonry, and become an ambassador for the organisation
