Contrary to tradition the future of Lincolnshire Freemasonry is off on the right foot, say members of the relatively-new Joint Focus Group that’s so far met just twice.
It’s a group made up mostly of newer Freemasons, and has been formed to offer a new perspective on Lincolnshire Freemasonry seen through the eyes of the people who, by and large, represent its future.
The group’s discussions have reflected the Provincial priorities in a new way. Says Group Secretary Dave Harness: “The Group’s view of Freemasonry in Lincolnshire is broadly that it’s on the right track, with members having identified the same priorities as our Executive members. In itself that’s heartening, but the group is suggesting a different emphasis to deliver a more effective response to topics including education, ceremonies and ritual, visiting, communications, and new members.
“The view on all of those from the Focus Group is consistent with the Exec’s thinking, but the Group has been able to put forward a slightly different spin, which its members feel will make for more effective outcomes.”
Welcoming the Group’s input PGM Dave Wheeler said: “We are doing well in Lincolnshire. We have a happy Province, and the contribution made by the Joint Focus Group is a key part of our future.
“It is often more difficult to improve a good situation, which is why new ideas and new energy are so important in identifying and taking the next steps. Members of the Executive look forward to further contributions from the Group.”
The next Joint Focus Group meeting, in late November, will look at the One Journey, One Organisation concept, and the part that Building Together will play in it.
