Dave Wheeler’s number was up at the June meeting of the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge – and he couldn’t have been more pleased!
That’s because 58 Lincolnshire Rough Ashlars were amongst the 97 visitors amongst the 130-plus present on the night of his team visit, significantly outnumbering team members and ensuring our Louth centre was packed to capacity. Their presence fulfilled Dave’s challenge to the Ashlars to outnumber members of his team at a team visit somewhere in the Province.
And the Provincial web site post has been converted into a permanent reminder of the event (right).
The meeting was an opportunity for the Province’s Light Blue members to explore the role of its Stewards, and find out what makes them different from other Lodges.
Pete Adams is the Lodge Master in its silver jubilee year, which was celebrated last September. He said: “The attendance was one of the largest anywhere in the Province since before Covid. ”I hope they all enjoyed the evening as much as I and the rest of the Stewards Lodge members did.”
Steve Henman of the Ashlars said: “Wow, what an evening! 58 light blue freemasons attended the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge for a wonderful evening of Freemasonry.
“The Lincolnshire Rough Ashlars were part of a Question and Answer between The Stewards Lodge and Rough Ashlars, both equally learning lots from each other. 17 members of the Rough Ashlars responded to questions, which was amazing; everyone delivering their responses with precision and clarity. It was wonderful to be part of an amazing team effort.
“Drawing the Question and Answers to a close all those brethren present below the rank of a Provincial Grand Officer were called to order, which showed just how many brethren had attended. It was an amazing sight with nearly half of the attendees having been Light Blues.
“Our Light Blues Club had its foundation stone laid in 2024 when our Provincial Grand Master signed our Charter at the Stewards Lodge. The huge turn out from The Rough Ashlars at the latest Stewards’ Lodge meeting truly shows how far the Lincolnshire Rough Ashlars have come in those two years.
“The festive board was amazing; there was a real buzz around the room. With about 130 brethren attending it was a sight to see. The toasts and responses were full of warmth and humour with all the right levels of decorum where needed. Two presentations were made to our amazing chairman Bro Mike Coleman, one from the Provincial Grand Master for all his efforts and dedication to the club. And one from the Rough Ashlars for Mike’s fiftieth birthday, both being very well deserved and received. Overall it was an amazing night of Freemasonry. Thank you to all those involved and a big thank you to the Worshipful Master of the Stewards Lodge Pete Adams for an amazing night.
The hard work and commitment from our amazing committee has been second to none and with nights like last night it shows we are building on a very strong foundation. The future is bright the future is Light Blue.
The raffle raised £811.16p.
