Craig Rodley joined Scunthorpe’s Chapter of St John in a ceremony he said had been ‘awesome’, a sentiment echoed by Grand Superintendent Dave Wheeler who said it had been excellent – and that was before he’d won a bottle of Scotch in the raffle!
Dave had brought members of his Provincial team from all over Lincolnshire to the ceremony, swelling the numbers there to almost 40, including his Deputy Mike Rix and Second Grand Principal Steve Roberts.
Although Dave was full of praise for the way Alan Mawer, as Z, had led the team delivering the ceremony, he singled out organist Dr John Pemberton, of whom he said: “I am so pleased you are still involved as Organist. The fanfare you played during the ceremony made it really special.” John had been presented with cake at his craft Lodge the previous month to mark his 50 years as Lodge organist there.
Craig had been proposed as a Chapter member by his friend and fellow Craft Lodge member Karl Lycett. Both are members of St Lawrence Lodge, where their common interests have forged a strong friendship. Karl said he looked forward to them progressing their Masonic careers together.
