More than sixty people packed Spilsby’s historic Masonic Hall to watch Tony Marston installed into the Chair in a ceremony with elements unique to that Lodge.
And there was the chance for Provincial Senior Grand Warden Gideon Hall to photobomb the picture (above) of Tony, his Wardens, the PGM’s representative Tony Miller and Installing Master Graham Long.
The Lodge was consecrated in 1835, and has begun looking forward to its 200th birthday, with the evening’s raffle raising the first £315 towards the celebrations of the landmark – though it’s far too early to know what form that will take, according to Secretary Gary Limb.
Provincial Communications Officer Stuart Pearcey was at the meeting, and said: “The Spilsby Masonic Hall offers a very different and special backdrop for any ceremony, and the way Shakespeare Lodge delivers its installation is different and special in equal measure.
”Like a visit to Grand Lodge for a QC meeting, a visit to a Shakespeare installation ceremony is something every member should aspire to experience at least once.”
He added: “The laughter, good humour, and friendliness at the festive board shone through as the perfect complement to a ceremony delivered to a very high standard. (And the roast beef was lovely too).”
