Doric Lodge: A history

The Worshipful Master of the Sir Joseph Banks Daylight Lodge No 9828, John Mirams, went to the Coningsby Emergency Dog Rescue Kennels in Ivy Lane Coningsby to hand over a New Provincial Benevolent Fund cheque for £500 to the owner of the kennels Jan Dodson.

The kennels were identified by Bernie Buck a fellow member of SJBDL, as needing some financial support in looking after some 25 unwanted dogs. Dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds which Jan lovingly devotes all her time, energy and spare cash to these unloved, ill-treated and very neglected animals.

Whilst he was there, John heard that a dog that had recently been admitted to the kennels needed to have 3 teeth removed and the Vet fee alone for this was expected to be nearly £200. Dogs come to Jan from far and wide not just locally, One such animal had been tied up for some 2 years and never exercised.

Since 2011 the Province of Lincolnshire Freemasons has donated in the form of grants to local non-Masonic charities and good causes in the county £690,000. The money comes totally from donations made by brethren to the Lincolnshire Masonic Charitable Association.
