Lincolnshire’s Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge is to be one of only four Lodges throughout England and Wales to host the Prestonian Lecture for 2025.
It will be delivered by the Deputy PGM of the Province of Cheshire, Judge Simon Medland. He’ll take as his topic ‘Our Friends in the North’ , which will be a reflection of the growth of Freemasonry from its early proto-masonic beginnings.
The lecture takes place at a Provincial Stewards Lodge meeting on Tuesday June 17th, being held at 6.30pm at the Grimsby Masonic Centre. PGM Dave Wheeler will lead a team visit on that evening so early booking is advisable; places are sure to fill quickly.
To book, email Stuart Butler at stuartbutler2@aol.com. The cost of the Festive Board will be £24. Scroll down to find the booking form with full payment details.
PRIORITY for the limited number of places will be given to members of the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge and members of the active team (since the night is to be a team visit). Only those two groups will be able to book before February 28th. After that date any spare places will be offered to non-members.
History of the Prestonian Lecture
The Prestonian Lecture is the only lecture given under the authority of the United Grand Lodge of England. It takes its name from William Preston (1742-1818), who was regarded as the foremost Masonic educator of his time, and who left a legacy of £300 to provide for an Annual Lectureship. Today these are aimed at a general audience of Freemasons, rather than scholars.
