St Botolph’s Lodge member Will Addison was raised to the degree of a Master Mason at a Round Table Lodge ceremony in Horncastle delivered by members of three Lodges.
In an evening of real co-operation Round Table members led the ceremony, with elements of floor work delivered by members of Will’s own Lodge and David Freeman from Olive Union.
The meeting was attended by a strong contingent of Provincial officers; Gideon Hall, the Provincial Senior Grand Warden, was making his official visit, and Provincial Junior Grand Warden David Carter came with him, as did Simon Noden, who’s a Deacon on the active team. Jez Hyland and Chris Jones are APGM and Sword Bearer respectively, and are both Round Table Lodge members.
Jez proposed the toast to Worshipful Master John Truss, saying that he’d come to the Lodge first to bring his accountancy skills to bear on the Round Table Lodge finances, and having brought those up to speed had continued to make a significant contribution as a member of the Lodge. In recognition of all that he was presented with a bottle of Master’s Malt whisky, which made him visibly moved.
St Botolph’s Lodge Master Andrew Paul thanks the Round Table members for their help in raising Will, adding that he’d never been to a ceremony in Horncastle before, but would certainly be back. “We’ve had a wonderful welcome here tonight,” he said.
Provincial Communications Officer Stuart Pearcey was caught completely off guard when he was given a birthday cake and a card signed by everyone in the room, having turned up on his birthday. “I was completely blindsided by the gesture,” he said. “It’s a mystery to me everyone in the room knew what was going on but I had no idea. No doubt it was Chris Jones’s sleight of hand, but I was grateful and honoured by the gesture. And I shall enjoy the cake.”
